Tau Kappa Epsilon - Pi Alpha Chapter
Welcome
The brothers of Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) are carrying on a long tradition of leadership, community service, Greek life, and lifetime social bonds. Each chartered chapter of TKE, pronounced "teke", is designated by letters of the Greek alphabet, and Ashland's chapter is Pi-Alpha.

One of the underlying goals of the fraternity system is to provide young men with the opportunity to develop leadership skills in a supporting environment that can handle the learning process. Few organizations outside the Greek system allow people to experience what it means to succeed at working in an organization, planning and hosting events, running meetings, developing strategic plans and goals, and leading groups of peers. The Pi-Alpha Chapter takes part in a plethora of leadership building seminars and activities. The TKE Regional Leadership Conference (RLC) is attended annually by the members of Pi-Alpha. Also, members of the Fraternity took part in facilitating and attending the 2010 Emerging Greek Leadership Seminar. The Brothers of TKE at Ashland University are involved throughout campus in a plethora of activities that help foster leadership including: Ashland University Orientation Team, Interfraternity Council, St. Jude Children's Hospital Up Till Dawn Executive Board, Colleges Against Cancer, Student Senate, Ashbrook, and Ashland University Tour Guides. |

In the 2009-2010 academic year, the Pi-Alpha chapter logged over 1,100 hours of community service. The Brothers of TKE feel that giving back to the community is an essential element of being a gentleman of sterling character and an example of what it means to be a Greek. Ronald Reagan was afflicted with Alzheimers Disease, and because of that TKE has nationally taken that charity as our focus. The Alzheimer's Memory Walk that is hosted by the Pi-Alpha Chapter has been a great success over the years and in 2009 raised over $21,000 for the Alzheimer's Association. Tau Kappa Epsilon has recently restarted the relationship between the Fraternity and St. Jude Children's Hospital. The Pi-Alpha for years has worked with St. Jude's, due to the philanthropic organization being Ashland University Greek Life's Greek Philanthropy. Over the years the Pi-Alpha Chapter has committed countless hours and collected money to support the children at St. Jude Children's Hospital. |

Of course the foundation of TKE is do accomplish all this in a fun social environment. Brotherhood is much more than just learning to run the chapter together. College is a fun and exciting time in many peoples' lives, and sharing it with true friends makes it that much more enjoyable. Studies have shown that those who join Greek organizations are almost twice as likely to graduate from college as those who don't. Many fraters develop lifetime bonds with their brothers, and it's all due to the great experiences they shared during their time in the chapter. |
